Effort of Emaan o Taqwa

Objectives

For bringing this unity in ummah,  following four principles are taught during forty days program

Four Things to Avoid
  1. Avoid debasing pious predecessors (Prophets, Aulia of Allah) under the guise of Tawhid.
  2. Avoid Shirk-related beliefs and practices under the guise of devotion and love.
  3. Avoid self-opinionatedness and belittling others under the guise of research and investigation.
  4. Avoid presenting any aspect of religion in a comparative manner.

For personal reform (Islah) and to become a useful part of society, this movement emphasises making the following eight things a regular part of one’s life:

  1. Tawhid, reverence for the Symbols of Allah, and respect for the pious predecessors (Aslaf).
  2. Dhikr and worship.
  3. Teaching and learning.
  4. Good character (Husn-e-Khulq).
  5. Service to creation (Khidmat-e-Khalq).
  6. Da ‘wah and Tabligh.
  7. Striving in the path of Allah
  8. Sincerity of intention (Ikhlas-e-Niyyat).

It also considers it necessary to avoid the following five things:

  1. Asking/begging (Su’al).
  2. Greed and excessive desire (Tama‘).
  3. Extravagance and wastefulness (Israf and Tabdhir).
  4. Excessive attachment to one’s own possessions and their use.
  5. Avoiding useless talk and unnecessary activities.

At the same time, it considers it important to maintain moderation in three things:

  1. Eating.
  2. Sleeping.
  3. Speaking.

Fundamentals

Three Major Aims
  1. Purification of the Self Tazkiyah

The first aim is the purification and reform of the human being.

This includes developing Taqwa, sincere love for Allah سبحانه وتعالى, awareness of His greatness and majesty, Ma’rifah, Khashyah and the qualities of true faith. It is a journey of transforming the heart so that one’s outward actions become a reflection of inward faith

     2. Complete Practice of the Entire Deen

From beliefs and matters of faith (Aqa’id and Iman) to worship (Ibadat), dealings (Mu‘amalat), social conduct (Mu‘asharat), good character (Husn-e-Akhlaq), rights, and etiquettes (Aadaab)—the aim is to practise the whole religion completely in one’s own life.

Islam should be presented to people in its complete, comprehensive, and correct form, and other Muslims should also be encouraged to practise the entire religion. They should be made aware of its importance and benefits, as well as the losses, shortcomings, and harmful consequences that result from failing to practise the religion properly.

  1. Unity of the Ummah

To devote our full efforts to bringing together the scattered Ummah and restoring its unity.

Fundamental beliefs and principles, as well as secondary and Ijtihadi matters, should each be given their proper status and position. One should avoid insisting unnecessarily on one’s own opinion and avoid trying to promote an unbalanced approach.

Efforts should be made to remove the poisonous attitudes of prejudice, rivalry, and mutual pride that have spread among people involved in different religious activities and fields. The hatred and ill-feeling that result from these attitudes should be transformed into mutual cooperation, mutual support, brotherhood, and mutual sympathy.

The following words of Allah ﷻ should be made a practical example in our lives:

وَلَا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ

“And do not dispute with one another, lest you lose courage and your strength depart; and obey Allah and His Messenger.”

And:

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ

“The believers are but brothers.”

Why Islah?

Islah: From Knowledge to Practice

Islah is not merely about gaining knowledge; rather, it is about bringing that knowledge into our daily lives. True knowledge bears fruit when it transforms our actions, character, and relationship with Allah سبحانه وتعالى. To achieve this, a person needs the right environment, guidance, good company, and continuous effort.

Recognising this important need, Hazrat Mufti Sahib رحمه الله devoted himself to establishing an environment of learning and practice at the Markaz of Karbogha Sharif. The forty-day programmes held throughout the year have provided countless people with an opportunity to learn, practise, and work towards the reform of their lives. Over the years, hundreds of thousands of people have benefited from this effort and experienced positive changes in their lives.

The impact of this effort has extended beyond individual Islah. It has also brought together people involved in different fields and efforts of Deen, creating bonds of love, understanding, cooperation, and unity among them.

In essence, the message of Islah is to turn knowledge into practice, practice into character, and character into a means of drawing closer to Allah سبحانه وتعالى
